History
Established in 1980, Maragheh University of Medical Sciences is now one of the important universities in southern part of East Azerbaijan Province. The university first started as an affiliate of Tabriz Medical Sciences University until 2012 when it was granted independency due to the significant role it is to play in the region.
MRGUMS is located in Maragheh, the second biggest city of East Azerbaijan Province, a city that lies to the south of Mount Sahand, which adds to the beauty of the city and makes it appealing to tourist from all around the country and the world. The population of the city is about 270000. The first hospital, Shir-o-khrshid hospital, in Maragheh was established in 1922 and only 9 years later the second hospital, Bo-Ali Sina hospital started offering medical services.
MRGUMS is under development and with distinguished faculty and hardworking staff aims to prove itself to be a leading education and training center in the country with the prospect of admitting students from all around the world.
